Powerful, driven, and dramatic are a few of words that describe Far From Fallingand their music. Since the release of their four song EP on June 20th, 2009, “The Weight of It All”, Far From Falling are starting to take the nation by storm by touring with such established bands like: Fair To Midland, Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Bobaflex, Dropping Daylight, and Quietdrive. Band members Harley Woods (lead vocals), Paul Haataja and John Reid (guitars), Corey Welter (bass), and Jay Plucinak (drums) deliver a power house of compassionate songs that makes them sound like veterans in the rock music scene. These Minneapolis rockers recently acquired local phenom Harley Woods on lead vocals that could only be described as a blend of Shannon Hoon and Scott Weiland with an uncanny emotional uniqueness that pulls in even the most demanding of listeners. “The Weight of It All”, is spectacular for being a four song EP and it’s one of the most commercial and marketable sounding EP’s considering thirty Best Buy stores have picked up the disc in the Minneapolis region and the band is receiving major radio air play for their song, “Too Late”.

Beginning the four track journey is the song, “All That’s Been Done”. It is hard to pin point whether it is a ballad or a straight forward rock song because the band does such a great job of combining the elements of heavy guitars and Daughtry like chorus and melodies that makes for a great opener for Far From Falling. “The Weight of It All”, is track that captures Far Falling’s talent as professional musicians and their ability to capture a sound that is meaningful and true. Harley Woods shines with perfection and shows why he is the lead singer of this band. The pure emotion that Woods gives in his singing for this song would make any listener take notice and be left utterly speechless. The third installment on this EP is the track, “Too Late”, which is an impressive song but is one of the weaker tracks on the album because the lyrics are not as catchy, but Woods makes up for this by adding his unique vocal talents to give the song color and emotional depth. The closing track, “Muting of Alarms”, brings the EP to a thundering conclusion with larger than life drum fills, dramatic tempo changes, and haunting melodies that will make the listener hit the replay button again.
Since hitting the scene, Far From Falling is accomplishing much with their brand of music. It is a shame that the listener is only treated to four tracks because this band is truly talented and deserves to have a full album’s worth of material. The amount of material that the band has released is rather impressive considering that each song has a uniqueness of its own and is able to attract the listener’s attention with ease. Good things are on the horizon for Far From Falling because it only seems like the rockers from Minneapolis are getting started and the best is yet to come! Be prepared because Far From Falling is about to take over!
